American Idol and Nashville Star document the struggles of young artists looking to sign their first record deals, but what actually happens once the deals are secured and the reality of album sales and radio airplay become crucial for success? BREAKOUT: The Road To Stardom is a brand new reality show concept that will pick up where American Idol and Nashville Star leave off. Created by Sandra Lee of Star Tour Inc, BREAKOUT will document the daily lives of five signed Country Music artists as they tour the nation on a 16-market tour. Brittini Black, Jason Byrd, Stephen Cochran, Gary Nichols, and Carmen Rasmusen (of American Idol fame) have all been tapped as cast members for this promising new project. The twist? All cast members are signed with independent record labels, taking advantage of the success current independent music row artists are enjoying. Each week, show producers will monitor each artist’s performance standings based on a number of criteria (record sales, internet downloads, radio station adds, radio spins, billboard rank, and audience favorite). The numbers will be tallied, and the final episode will reveal the BREAKOUT artist who has shown the most career improvement. The winner will win a million dollar endorsement contract from the show’s sponsor, which will help the artist and their independent label, giving them the exposure they need to sell more records.
